Logos give a sense of permanence and stability, two attributes the Richland Community Food Pantry strive for, yet until now, they had not found the proper image. Larry Engels, director of the Pantry says “The Pantry has never had a logo. We have looked for the right design but never found one that portrayed our vision and optimism, until now.“
So how does this tie into Richland Rejuvenates? When we started Richland Rejuvenates, we ran a contest in conjunction with the Richland Observer looking for our own logo. Two designs were the consensus favorites; the Richland Rejuvenates logo designed by Jodi Mieden, and a design from the very creative Danielle Merry, a graphics and web design student in her second semester at Southwest Tech of Fennimore, WI.
At the end of judging Jodi’s design edged out Danielle’s in a very close competition, but Danielle’s work impressed us so much, that when the Richland Community Food Pantry approached us about designing a logo for them, we reached out to Danielle about adapting her design to fit the Pantry. She jumped right on the idea and then threw us a curve. She brought forth even more ideas. “I needed to be sure the logo truly represented the spirit and drive of the Pantry” Danielle shared. Her judgment was spot on.
“We are proud of our new logo” beamed Larry Engels. “For all of our volunteers, for the companies and organizations that support us, and for the people we serve, this logo is a shining beacon of the work we do. We all appreciate Danielle’s generosity, passion and artistry in creating this logo for us.”
Danielle, originally from Blue River, now resides with her husband and daughter in Bloom City. They live on his family farm, where they raise beef and cash crops. On the side Danielle, has a photography business that keeps her busy as well as inspired. After graduating from Southwest Tech, Danielle will be seeking a job in the Graphic Design field where she can express her creativity on a daily basis. We highly recommend her, as does Larry Engels.
